Why You Should Consider Hiding TV Wires

Did you know that over 110 million people tune in for the big game each year on Super Bowl Sunday? While we’re pretty sure you don’t have enough space to comfortably fit that many people inside your own home, there’s no better way to watch the game than with a few friends and family members. This year, there are plenty of ways to tidy up those wires and save the aesthetics of the room so your company can concentrate on the game.

Televisions themselves and cable boxes alike are getting smaller and sleeker by the minute, but the same can’t be said for the wires that power these devices. While some of the processes below are a bit more involved than others, there are plenty of ways you can hide the cables and there are a number of benefits for doing so:

  1. Do Away With Wires Altogether: you’ll likely still have to find somewhere to plug the tv, cable box and surround sound speakers into the wall, but the good news is lots of speaker models and high definition sources are wireless.
  2. If You Can’t Get Rid Of Them, Conceal Them: there are lots of wire concealing products on the market including crown molding designed to hide cables or raceways that stick to floor molding. Take a trip out to your local home goods store to see what they have that might work for your living room.
  3. Hide Them Behind The Wall: you can attempt this project yourself if you’re handy with drills and saws or you can leave it to the pros. This method probably has the best aesthetic appeal, but requires some knowledge and expertise.

And aside from making a room look much neater, hiding TV wires has some great benefits! Just think of all the small children that will be running around your house for the big game – tripping, cutting the power to the TV and electrical shocks are not things you’re going to want to deal with.

No matter which option you choose, we hope you enjoy the game! And for all of your electrical needs in Rochester and the surrounding areas, don’t hesitate to give the trusted electricians at Lon Lockwood Electric a call! (585) 766-4702.
