Save BIG With an Energy Efficient Pool Pump

Do you have any idea how much money you spend each summer running your pool’s pump? In many cases, pool pumps stack up as the second largest energy user in the home adding a whopping $500 to your energy bills each year. But that doesn’t have to be the case - an energy efficient pump will have you doing cannonballs.

What Does A Pool Pump Do?

If you have an in-ground pool, you’ve got a pool pump and that pool pump is costing you money every time it turns on. What is a pool pump and why is it so important? It’s job is to recirculate water through the filter to maintain water clarity and hygiene.

But your pump may be costing you more than it should be, especially if it’s not operating at the right speed…

...which is the case with most conventional pumps as they are set to run at higher speeds which often aren’t necessary. So, what can you do to save money? Consider upgrading to an ENERGY STAR pool pump.

Benefits of an Energy-Efficient Pool Pump

  • Run quieter and prolong the life of your pool’s filtration system

  • Operate at optimal speeds

  • Can save you nearly $350 per year in energy bills

  • Use up to 70% less energy than standard pool pumps

Energy Star Qualifications

  • Single Speed Pumps: these types of pool pumps must have an Energy Factor (EF) greater than or equal to 3.8. *EF is the volume of water pumped in gallons per watt house of electricity consumed by the motor.

  • Multi-Speed Pumps: must have an EF greater than or equal to 3.8 on the most efficient speed setting (the speed with the highest Energy Factor for a given pump).
